PRESSURE: A PRIVILEGE or A Problem?

Is pressure a privilege or a problem?

Take a tube of toothpaste and squeeze it as hard as you can! Now take a water hose out and turn on the faucet. Or, watch the amount of pressure it requires to move oil from the depths of the earth to the surface, where it can be used and distributed for the world’s use in so many ways.

From the simplest amounts of pressure to the highest amounts of pressure, the analogy is the same. What’s inside that must be used cannot be accessed without pressure. So we must ask ourselves when we are feeling pressure in our lives, is it a privilege or a problem? It can be both. The right amounts of positive pressure can yield positive results. While too much pressure can produce breaking and “pipes that burst.” We have heard it said that pressure breaks pipes. Well, sure it does. That’s the wrong amount of pressure. It’s simply too much. But just the right amount of pressure on a person, a system, or even a situation can produce exactly what is needed……..results. And the result is that what is inside of that person needs to come out. The gift, the calling, the wisdom, the experience, the product.

However, too much pressure of any kind can break even the best system, person, or plan. So, I encourage us all today that if you are feeling pressure in your life to remind yourself it’s because there is something inside of you that is needed and God wants to pull that out. Just make sure you adjust if the pressure becomes too high. Keep quality people around you who can help with the “release valves” necessary to avoid breakage. Pressure is good and can yield great things as long as we handle it wisely. Take care and lead well.
